New projectors from Mitsubishi launched at ISE 2012
Debuting at ISE 2012 will be Mitsubishi’s latest projector range, the 7000 series. Available in three formats, the XL7100U (1024 x 768 pixel XGA), WL7200U (1280 x 800 pixel WXGA) and UL7400U (1920x1200 pixel WUXGA), the 7000 Series projectors offer high-performance, versatility and low running costs, and are ideal for applications such as large meeting rooms, rental applications and digital signage.
Based around a long-life, non-organic liquid crystal panel, the 7000 Series offers an impressive light output of up to 6000 Lumens at 2000:1 contrast ratio. Lamp life of up to 4,000 hours and less than 0.3W power consumption in standby mode makes the 7000 Series economical to own and run. The high-performance, ultra-low dispersion ED lens offers greater light transmission efficiency than glass and improved optical accuracy across the entire image. Mitsubishi’s advanced Super Resolution image processing algorithm dynamically interpolates missing data from an input signal to create greatly improved clarity. Combined with Mitsubishi’s Natural Colour Matrix, the result is an image of superb sharpness and natural-looking colours.
At ISE 2012, Mitsubishi will also be demonstrating its high-end 8000 Series projectors, which include several additional advanced features such as built-in edge blending, automatic colour matching and curved screen correction. Offering state-of-the-art performance and light output up to 7000 Lumens, the 8000 Series projectors are a perfect choice for demanding large-venue applications or rental.
At the other end of the scale, Mitsubishi will demonstrate the latest addition to its ultra-short throw range, the WD385U-EST. The popular projector now comes with an interactive pen allowing any projection surface to become an interactive whiteboard. Mitsubishi’s interactive pen is equipped with gyro sensors to ensure reliable performance and has been ergonomically designed for comfort and performance. In Dual Pen mode, the WD385U-EST can support two pens simultaneously, making it perfect for classroom use.
Mitsubishi showcases award winning display at ISE 2012

Dubbed the "Oscars of Innovation", the R&D 100 awards recognise the world’s top 100 breakthrough technology products of the year. Mitsubishi’s OLED display technology achieved recognition in the 2011 Electrical Devices category. The team from Mitsubishi Electric’s Kamakura R&D facility, headed by Kazuya Maeshima, shared the top prize with development partners Tohoku Pioneer Corporation.
Mitsubishi’s Diamond Vision OLED screen is a revolutionary approach to large format displays. Screens are made up of any number of 384mm square modules, each containing 128 x 128 passive OLED pixels. These modules can be assembled in virtually any configuration to create screens of any shape or size. The OLED modules are extremely thin, which allows unique three dimensional screens to be created. In 2011, Mitsubishi revealed the world’s first spherical OLED display – the stunning 6m diameter digital representation of the Earth installed at the Miraikan Museum in Tokyo.
At ISE 2012, Mitsubishi will demonstrate the unique versatility of the Diamond Vision OLED screen by recreating a section of the Miraikan globe on its stand, Hall 2 A24. Measuring 3m across, the screen is fully curved in three dimensions. The unique shape, combined with its 3mm pixel pitch and light output of 1,200 cd/m², creates an extremely striking display which is sure to create much interest among visitors to the RAI.
Diamond Vision OLED will form the centrepiece of a stunning digital signage installation at Tokyo’s Narita airport later this year. The system – which will be Japan’s largest ever digital signage project – will feature a 180º concave Diamond Vision OLED screen. Due to complete by Summer 2012, the "Panorama Vision" screen will be the only system of its type in the world.
New Display Wall Processor from Mitsubishi Electric
The new VC-MK4000 is the latest generation display wall image processor from Mitsubishi, allowing multiple windows to be overlaid on a display wall system in very high quality. The high-bandwidth system architecture allows all windows to be displayed in real time with no dropped frames to ensure the best possible picture quality. The VC-MK4000 is ideal for high-end control room applications where reliability and premium performance are essential requirements.
The VC-MK4000 can be configured to drive either 16 displays, with four windows per display, or eight displays with eight possible window overlays. Each window displays RGB at 1920 x 1200 pixels (WUXGA) or video at 1920 x 1080 pixels (Full HD). All windows are displayed at native refresh rates, irrespective of the number of inputs shown or their type. Up to 32 VC-MK4000 units can be daisy-chained to allow up to 256 displays to be controlled as a single system -each one capable of showing eight overlaid windows, or a total of 32 windows per system.
As well as operating as a standalone unit, Mitsubishi can supply the VC-MK4000 combined with an optional PC platform (Base Computer) to allow the increased versatility of operating system access and user-configurable output graphics cards. A new version of Mitsubishi’s display wall software, D-Wall5, will also be launched at ISE 2012.
Mitsubishi Electric launches new outdoor LED screen
Mitsubishi Electric’s ODT6S LED screen has been designed specifically to provide a competitively priced, high-quality outdoor screen that’s easy to install and inexpensive to maintain.
The 6.7mm pitch 5000 cd/m² ODT6S uses a unique new waterproof 3-in-1 LED package developed by Mitsubishi for high reliability. Its simplified construction means that the panels are exceptionally slim at just 50mm, and very light at under 25kg. Installation can be accomplished quickly and easily without the need for heavy lifting equipment.
